Art Goût Beauté, 1932 — An Elegant Walk with a Dog | Color Your Own Canvas Print

$31.09 NZD

This canvas is based on an illustration from Art Goût Beauté — a French fashion magazine published in Paris in the late 1920s and early 1930s that sat at the intersection of fine art and haute couture. Each issue was as much an art object as a publication, featuring pochoir prints (a refined hand-stencilled technique) of extraordinary elegance. The women in its pages wore Poiret, Chanel, and Patou — and were illustrated with the flat, graceful lines that defined Art Deco at its most refined.

This particular plate captures something Art Goût Beauté did better than almost anyone — making the everyday look effortless. A walk with a dog, an ordinary afternoon errand, and yet the tailoring is immaculate, the posture perfect, the whole scene quietly insisting that there is no such thing as a casual moment when you are truly well dressed. It is a very Parisian idea, and 1932 wore it beautifully.

I outlined the figure and her canine companion by hand on a drawing tablet, following the crisp lines of the tailored coat and the easy charm of the scene. An afternoon stroll frozen in time, waiting for your colors.

No art background needed. Just curiosity and a set of pencils, paints, or acrylic markers.
