Art Goût Beauté, 1932 — Women in Long Skirts and Coats | Color Your Own Canvas Print

RM 103.66

This canvas is based on an illustration from Art Goût Beauté — a French fashion magazine published in Paris in the late 1920s and early 1930s that sat at the intersection of fine art and haute couture. Each issue was as much an art object as a publication, featuring pochoir prints (a refined hand-stencilled technique) of extraordinary elegance. The women in its pages wore Poiret, Chanel, and Patou — and were illustrated with the flat, graceful lines that defined Art Deco at its most refined.

This particular plate is from 1932 — long skirts structured coats with clean tailored lines, and a new sense of quiet authority.

I outlined the figures and their outdoor setting by hand on a drawing tablet, following the elegant fall of the long skirts and the sharp geometry of the coats. A portrait of a decade finding its new footing, waiting for your colors.

No art background needed. Just curiosity and a set of pencils, paints, or acrylic markers.
